KARACHI: Karachi Police on Thursday registered a case against a Frontier Constabulary (FC) trooper deployed as a guard at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office in the Nazimabad area of the metropolis.
The FC guard slapped a female reporter of a private TV channel, K-21, who was doing a live programme about the problems faced by citizens at NADRA registration office, said police officials. The video on social media which shows the female reporter being slapped by the FC guard has gone viral and attracted attention of the concerned authorities to take action.
“Gulbahar police have registered a case against the FC personnel over charges of conducting aerial firing and assaulting modesty of the female reporter of K-21 TV channel by slapping her,” said Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Central Muqadas Hyder while talking to a private TV channel. “Police have approached the FC authorities for seeking custody of the guard,” he added.
Hyder also revealed that NADRA officials had also submitted an application for lodging a counter First Information Report (FIR) against the TV channel employee for creating “hindrances in official work”.
